Massage is a great way to rehydrate our skin and also reminds us to start taking care of ourselves again.

We usually think of dehydration in Summer but in actuality Winter can cause dehydration much easier due to the dry air sucking moisture out of our bodies all day. This dehydration can cause an imbalance in the skin and it's pH levels, creating an imbalance between acidity and alkalinity. This means our skin is at risk and our protective shield needs help. Massage is a great way to rehydrate our skin and also reminds us to start taking care of ourselves again.

At my studio I use 100% organic oils by Lotus Touch.  In both my Hot Stone and Aromatherapy massages I first use the dry brushing technique to exfoliate the skin to create rapid skin growth (detoxification) and to prepare the skin to more easily accept the nourishing oils. Here is a break down of my oil and the benefits of Lotus Touch ingredients.

Organic Flax Seed Oil - Contains appreciable amounts of essential fatty acids which are vital for healthy skin.
Organic Jojoba Oil - Light, highly penetrative oil. Good for all skin types. Non-comedogenic.
Organic Olive Oil - A moisturizing oil that is high in essential fatty acids.
Organic Shea Butter - Excellent for soothing, protecting and moisturizing the skin. Has properties known to regenerate cells and capillary circulation.

Unscented Coconut oil - medium-chain-lenght fatty acids, which raise the body's metabolism, and acts as a antiviral, anti fungal and antibacterial agent.

Sesame Oil - has and antioxidant called sesamol which effectively prevents the appearances of wrinkle's and fine lines.

Vitamin E & A - Essential nutrients and E is a natural preservative.

Lavender, Chamomile & Geranium - Calming and soothing oils

All of my massages use this nourishing oil and any massage can come with a dry brush session. Also, don't forget that dry brushing is a technique that can be used at home before bathing. Remember the brush strokes should go toward your heart and use a lotion or oil while you are still damp. And don't forget to drink lots of water!

Happy Hydration,
